Interruption and cancellation of the Soundtrack-Festival

Dear sport and music fans, dear athletes,

the organizer, the Förderverein LAV Tübingen e.V., and the entire team of volunteers are deeply sorry for having to cancel the Soundtrack event. We are extremely disappointed that the weather let us down and that we had to interrupt all competitions due to the thunderstorm. After nearly 3 hours of interruption we had to announce the cancellation of the event due to the heavy rainfalls. The bad weather conditions caused a power failure and terribly flooded the sport facilities and the concert site. As a result, we received orders from the municipal office to stop the whole event.

We hope that you understand this decision to avoid any danger or farm for both our visitors and our athletes. It will take some time to figure out the costs and reimbursements. We will inform you about the procedure in the next days. In contrast to some media reports, it is not clear yet to what extend our costs will be covered by our insurance. However, it is clear that the cancellation of the whole event will be a huge burden for us.

A big thank you to our volunteers, athletes, visitors and the city of Tübingen for their support. We also wish to express our utmost gratitude to all our sponsors – without them an event like this would have never been possible in the first place.

The board of the LAV Tübingen

Lasitskene and Levchenko confirmed for Tuebingen Soundtrack Meeting

Reigning world and European high jump champion Mariya Lasitskene headlines a stellar line-up at the Tuebingen Soundtrack Meeting, a European Athletics Outdoor Classic Permit Meeting, on 22 June.

Lasitskene went unbeaten through the indoor season which culminated with her second gold medal at the Glasgow 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships. She will begin her outdoor campaign at the Stockholm Diamond League on 30 May with appearances in Oslo (13 June), Chorzow (16 June) and Ostrava (20 June) also on the itinerary ahead of Tuebingen.

Lasitskene will face a line-up including last year’s winner Yuliya Levchenko from Ukraine, the silver medallist behind Lasitskene at both the IAAF World Championships in London two years ago and at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

Lasitskene and Levchenko were two of the three jumpers to surpass the two metre barrier indoors in 2019. Lasitskene cleared 2.04m on home soil in Moscow while Levchenko cleared an indoor lifetime best of 2.00m in Eaubonne.

Another member of the two-metre club to be confirmed for Tuebingen is multiple German champion Marie-Laurence Jungfleisch. Jungfleisch cleared 2.00m in both 2016 and 2017 before winning a bronze medal behind Lasitskene at the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships last August.

Soundtrack officially European

Our Soundtrack-Meeting is the only European Athletics Classic Permit Meeting in Germany in 2019. The European Athletics Association (EA) was impressed by last years’ organisation and is looking forward to working closely together with us. „This international format allows our German athletes to qualify themselves in their home country for the World Championships”, explains Tom Schleich. It is a necessary step for our German Meetings to become more international – especially in view of the upcoming qualifications for the Olympics in Tokyo 2020. The event will be equally enjoyable for spectators as well as athletes.
